Another fantastic Junior session at Frisby Fencers on Monday 23rd February!

We were delighted to welcome 8 enthusiastic young fencers to the piste, and what a brilliant session it was. The group worked hard on developing their footwork and blade control, building confidence through drills and structured sparring.

There was plenty of laughter alongside the learning, with some great competitive spirit on display.

A big well done to everyone who took part — your energy and enthusiasm made it a really fun and successful evening. We’re already looking forward to the next session!

Junior Fencing session

We had a fantastic junior fencing taster session at the club on Monday 26th January, and what a way to kick off the week! 🤺✨

The session was full of energy from the moment it began, with our young fencers jumping straight into the action. They learned the basics of footwork, attacking and defending, and—most importantly—how to fence safely and with respect. It was brilliant to see so much enthusiasm, focus, and confidence developing over such a short time.

There were plenty of smiles, lots of great questions, and some impressive first attempts at fencing skills. I was especially pleased with how quickly everyone picked things up and how supportive the group was of one another.

A huge well done to everyone who came along and gave fencing a go—we hope you had as much fun as we did! If you enjoyed the taster session and would like to get involved, we’d love to welcome you back to the club very soon.

Keep an eye on the website for upcoming sessions and beginner opportunities. Engarde! ⚔️

Fencing at Schools

Richard Sharpe has been fencing in schools across the East Midlands region for 20 years. Recently a new link has been forged with Primary Schools in the local area throughout the Melton and Rutland boroughs. This has led to the creation of the new Primary session on a Monday and more fencing in local schools. As this develops more sessions may be added to a Monday evening for Secondary aged school students.

Memory Lane

We have decided to delve into the archives and post some photos from the club’s history.

Below is Philip Hoyle from 2nd March 2008 winning Bronze at the Clara Rayner Nottingham Open Men’s Epee. This was his first Senior Open and he fenced brilliantly coming 3rd out of 78 adults.
